How to Activate:

Install the Remote Desktop Licensing Role
- Open Server Manager.
- Click Manage > Add Roles and Features.
- Select Role-based or feature-based installation.
- Under Server Roles, check Remote Desktop Services and add Remote Desktop Licensing.
- Complete the wizard and restart if necessary.

Activate the Remote Desktop License Server
- Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager (Start > Administrative Tools > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Licensing Manager).
- Right-click your server name and select Activate Server.
- Follow the Activation Wizard:
- Choose Automatic connection (recommended) or Web browser for activation.
- Provide the required company information when prompted.
- Complete the process to activate the license server.

Install RDS User CALs (Client Access Licenses)
- In the Licensing Manager, right-click the server name and select Install Licenses.
- Follow the License Installation Wizard:
- Select the license program (e.g., Retail Purchase, Volume Licensing).
- Enter the 50 User CAL key provided with your license purchase.
- The Licensing Manager will communicate with Microsoft to install the licenses.

Configure Licensing Mode
- Open Server Manager > Remote Desktop Services > Overview.
- Click Edit Deployment Properties.
- Under RD Licensing, specify the Remote Desktop License Server.
- Set the licensing mode to Per User and apply the changes.

Verify License Installation
- In Remote Desktop Licensing Manager, verify that the licenses are listed and the status is Installed.
- Test user connections to confirm functionality.
Note: Ensure your server has internet access to communicate with Microsofts activation servers. For troubleshooting, use the Web Browser or Telephone activation method if needed.
What are Remote Desktop Services?
